Arizona reports 472 additional COVID-19 cases, 3 more deaths

PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona on Thursday reported 472 additional confirmed COVID-19 cases and three more deaths, increasing the state’s pandemic totals to 895,347 cases and 17,939 deaths.

The state’s coronavirus dashboard also reported 527 people were hospitalized for COVID-19 treatment as of Wednesday. The number of hospitalized virus patients has generally ranged between 500 and 600 during most of the past two months, according to the dashboard.

Johns Hopkins University data indicates that the state’s seven-day rolling average of daily new cases rose over the past two weeks from 423.3 new cases per day on June 15 to 550.3 new cases per day on Tuesday.

The rolling average of death deaths dropped from 13 to 11.5 during the same period.
